Peda-forum Days 2009 – HOW IS THE UNIVERSITY DOING TODAY?

The Finnish network of expertise in university pedagogy, the Peda-forum, organises the national development days for university teaching every year. The Peda-forum Days 2009 will focus on sharing experiences and best practices in the field of teaching and learning development, and research. An overarching theme in the presentations is well-being and coping at work. The Peda-forum Days 2009 are organised in collaboration with the W5W.2 and Propeda projects. Seminar language is Finnish. On 19th of August there will be running a track in English.

Peda-forum Days in Tallinn on 19-20 August 2009

Be part of the programme of the Peda-forum Days and give a presentation on your teaching development project, introduce your research or host a workshop! This year we are hoping to receive presentation proposals addressing the following themes:

Development resources
• Well-being of teaching developers: students, teachers and administrative staff
• Good studying culture and ethics of studying
• Teaching, counselling and emotions
• Study skills, study condition, motivation
• Time management
• Other, which?

Pedagogical innovation
• Experiences and best practices
• University pedagogical training
• Evaluation of teaching and learning; feedback
• Counselling of the student along the study path
• Multidisciplinarity, multiculturalism
• Learning goals, recognition of previously learned skills
• Other, which?

Where are we headed?
• What can be learned from quality assurance work and audits?
• The new Universities Act
• Management of teaching activities / expertise
• Centres of Excellence in higher education: goals and results of operation
• Evaluation and monitoring of the degree reform, further measures
• Other, which?

Join us to make the Peda-forum Days 2009!

You can participate in the Peda-forum Days by giving a presentation on your best practices in teaching, by introducing your research, or by hosting a workshop. Fill Call for Papers by 30th of January 2009.

The presentations are expected to consider the day-specific themes relating to well-being and coping at work. You may also propose a topic that is related to the day-specific themes. The presentations and workshops should involve activating learning methods. The time reserved for the presentations of research and development projects is 40 minutes / presentation, and the workshops are reserved 2 or 4 hours. The participation fee of the workshop leaders and presentation givers will be covered by the Peda-forum.

The programme of the Peda-forum Days will be published in March 2009, when also the registration for the days will open.
